Playing again this week at Card Patterns with this fun sketch....

I decided to create a sympathy card for my stash using the tree image from Gina K Designs set "Blessed is the Season" and Stampin' Up's sympathy sentiment from "Thoughts and Prayers" which is one of my favorites. See the little medallion behind the button? that is my score on a  Martha Stewart punch for 3.99. Here is a peek at the inside:

It's a White Party at OCC!

Well, I will say this was different for me....my first all white card....
per instructions this week at Our Creative Corner where the challenge is to only use white on our card with the only exception being that we could use a light neutral color for our sentiment. So on to another Christmas card from me....I just can't seem to stop making one a week, lol. I used Gina K Designs 120 lb weight card stock for my base with layers of white card stock embossed with the Swiss Dots and Snowflake embossing folders by Cuttlebug. Using the largest snowflake die by Spellbinders I cut and embossed the snowflake layer and then layering that over a smooth piece of white card stock that I then stamped the snowflake from Stampin' Up's set "Winter Post" with versamark ink and embossing with clear powder. The double bow is made with my bow easy from Dollar Tree satin ribbon and attached is a SU  punched tag with the snowflake and peace sentiment from the SU sets "Short and Sweet" and "Perfect Ending" in Memento London Fog.

My inside sentiment is from Gina K's set "Blessed is the Season". Very simple and quick...might just have to try this again someday, at least no searching for the perfect design paper.

For my card this week, I am using the image  "Donna Sunbonnets 2", isn't she just the sweetest and because she is so sweet, I had to use these soft pinks and yellows with her. I added some sparkle on her bonnet with Studio G glitter glue in pink and yellow, along with using it on my flowers. I hope you like it and will stop by and give our sketch a whirl this week, we would love to have you play along with us. Sunday's CAS challenge at Outlawz!

Hello my friends....wanted to share with you a card that I created for the CAS Sunday challenge at The Outlawz .  This week they ask-
"In keeping with the true CAS style, your challenge this week is to design a card that uses your STAMPS for the entire card! Patterned paper, embellies, sentiment- all must be created using stamps! (that does not mean you HAVE to have these things though! but you get the idea!) Any theme, any color combination ANY kind of stamp (rubber, clear, digi)- the sky is the limit of your creativity friends, so shoot for the stars :)"

I had been wanting to try using my Spellbinders Impressibilities as a stencil for a while, so.....
The flower is from Gina K Designs set "A Year of Flowers", I stamped and fussy cut out 5 of them to layer, after sponging with Baja Breeze. My sentiment is from Gina's set "Elegant Flowers". This is only my second time playing in the CAS challenge at Outlawz but they have some fun challenges this week, if you haven't checked this site out before, why not take a look around.

Playing at Phindy's at Sugar Creek Hollow

Welcome to Sugar Creek Hollow and another Sensational Saturday.  This week our challenge for you is to create a vintage, shabby chic or primitive card using the technique of PAPER PIERCING.  You don't need any special tools to prick holes in your paper because a sewing needle will do the trick.  If you want to use a pattern rather than just pricking holes in a line or circle and don't have any, there are quite a number of freebies out there (just Google "Free Paper Piercing Templates").  There are also lots of tutorials available.

For my card, I have used Phindy's "Tea Bird", isn't she just the cutest???  I just loved the peaches, pinks and rose colors in this paper by Pink Paislee and had to use it. My coloring was done with my few copics and the paper piercing with my templates from Gina K Designs and Stampin' Up. This is one of my favorite techniques, I hope it is one of yours and if you've never tried it before, join our challenge this week. We will be looking for you.

Christmas in July with The Paper Players

You may be getting tired of seeing them, but I am loving getting a head start on my Christmas cards. This one is also fairly flat and will be easy to mail. I may try some more of these, since I now have my LO  and it came together fairly quickly once I had decided how to do this.
The Paper Players challenge 54 is the theme "Christmas in July" this week, so I decided to pull out some of my older Stampin' Up sets and see what I could come up with....using "Window on the World" I stamped the window image twice, once on Kraft and then on ivory for the curtain. I cut with a craft knife the inside of the window, including the curtain, replacing the curtain with the one from the ivory image, which I mounted over a piece of white card stock stamped with the trees from "Lovely As a Tree". The wreath then was stamped and colored, with added gems from Basic Gray. I thought this lovely paper from K&Co reminded me of wallpaper. Hope you enjoy and will check out this fun challenge, get a start, we are only 5 months away from Christmas!!

Meljen's Twice in one Day!

Hey guys, back for one more card....after loading my post for this morning where Meljen's is the sponsor for the challenge at Sweet Sketch Wednesday (scroll down one post to see my card for SSW), I went over to the challenge blog at Meljen's and saw this great sketch

I had printed this adorable image "Giraffe's Necktie" a while back and since it was ready to go, I decided to throw a card together for them----the challenge ends at midnight tonight.

My card base is Stampin' Up with design paper from Basic Grey's "Granola". I also tried out a new border embossing folder from Cuttlebug's set "Frills". Our Creative Corner plays with Card Patterns

Here's hoping you all had a wonderful holiday weekend ... we did, some fireworks, grilling and visiting with family. For my card, I am combining the sketch challenge at Card Patterns with the Seasonal Celebration challenge (Make a last minute 4th of July card or project or a Christmas in July card or project) at Our Creative Corner .

I love playing at OCC and when I saw the sketch for Card Patterns on  my friend Carla's blog (by the way, she is now on their design team) I just knew I had to play. I have been wanting to try a longer #10 size card and thought this was the perfect time. I had a package of precut cards and envelopes by DCWV that has a offset fold. Using some of the "yuletide" paper from K&Co along with some red I laid out my design. I added a chipboard oval from the "yuletide" collection to frame my design paper. Don't you just love those cut out poinsettias? I used some of those last year on my Christmas cards, they are from GinaK designs set " A Year of Flowers" which I love.

For the inside, I stamped some more of the poinsettias along with a GKD sentiment from the set "Blessed is the Season". I am happy with how this turned out and can't wait to try some more designs with this size card.

Happy holiday weekend everyone and welcome to another Sensational Saturday at Sugar Creek Hollow.
This week we have a PATRIOTIC challenge
for you.  We want you to celebrate your country and its
history and make your vintage, shabby chic or primitive card
using the colors of your country as represented by its flag.

Most of the ladies on the Sugar Creek Hollow Design Team are from the
United States so patriotic cards have a red, white and blue theme.
One of our members is Canadian and she has used a classic Canadian icon
and done her card in red and white as those are the colors of the
Canadian flag.  We are really looking forward to getting a colorful
history lesson of the countries of our challenge participants.

This week we will reward a random winner with a badge to display on her
blog and a digi of our choice.  The Design Team will choose a Card
of the Week and the creator of that card will receive a badge to display
and will be in the running for a Guest Designer spot.

For my card, I used red, blue and ivory card stock that I picked up at a stamp show last year from Rubber Cottage. I tried a new multi fold technique that I think I will be trying again very soon, so much fun. My stars and  inside sentiment are from an older retired set by Stampin' Up by the name "Liberty for All" and the vintage flag is a freebie that I found online at Magic Moonlight Freebies . You will be sure to find a free goodie there to you liking. I distressed my card with Tim Holtz antique linen distress ink. Don't you just love the sentiment "God Bless our Troops" and I pray that he does....it is from Laurie's set at Doodle Pantry in her Patriotic Turtle set.
