Going Masculine at Sugar Creek Hollow

Welcome to another Sensational Saturday at Sugar Creek Hollow. This
week our challenge to you is to MAKE IT
MASCULINE
.

Cards for the men in your life are always needed so now is the time to
make a vintage, shabby chic or primitive creation that you can be sure
they will appreciate.

winner's badge to display on her blog and a digi of our choice. In
addition, the Design Team will choose one project as Card of the Week
and the creator will receive a badge to display and will be in the
running for a Guest Designer spot.

As many of you know, Rick and I are taking care of his Mother, who is now bed fast with Alzheimer's, and I am so proud of him and the work and help that he gives me each and every day. He has such an unselfish, honest personality, so I wanted to create something to give him so that he knows how much I love and appreciate him. This seemed like the perfect time. I used a variety of images and will list them in my card details if you are interested. I love these Bo Bunny Timepiece design papers.

After giving it to him with a personal note, I told him that it was for this week's challenge.....his comment----you didn't take a picture of what you wrote did you???? So sweet.
Now go to Sugar Creek Hollow and see what the girls have created, you won't be disappointed.
Our designers have created some great masculine cards for your

Sketch 116 at SSW with Bugaboo

Happy Wednesday and welcome to my card for Sketch 116 this week at Sweet Sketch Wednesday where we are being sponsored by one of our very favorite companies Bugaboo Stamps . I have become a huge fan of Jodie's fabulous images and this week I am using Fancy SB Flowers. The winner of our Grand Prize will have their choice of 7 of Bugaboo's images valued at $21. So be sure and play along this week, I am sure if you check out the store that you will see something you would love to play with.

I loved coloring this beautiful image and adding the extras to Arlana's wonderful sketch for this week.

I just got these beautiful design papers from My Mind's Eye and loved the way they just seemed to be made for her. I punched on both sides of a one inch strip with my Martha Stewart border to create my strip embellishment. I couldn't believe I got it centered correctly the first time, lol will probably be the only time that I can do that.
Here is a picture of my inside, I will list the other items used in my card details. Now off to SSW to check out what the other girls have created to share with you for this week. I will be watching for your name .....hope to see you there.

Card Details:
Paper: MME Sunshine, Stampin' Up Kraft and Black
Ink: Copics and SU markers
Other: Martha Stewart border punch, SU oval and scalloped oval punch, Recollections flower, Studio G glitter glue

Tuesday Throwdown

Hello my friends, I am playing today in a challenge site that is one that I may never have been in before but the challenge to use a non stamped sentiment and the fact that the challenge at Tuesday Throwdown is being sponsored this week by McMahon Five ,  just pulled me in. I won a gift certificate earlier this summer from McMahon Five and loved all of the goodies that I was able to buy. I created my card using some of the digital paper and the image that I purchased which is designed by Shawnee Arnold in their Studio 313 section. I love these papers and they always make me smile when I use them. I layered the "cherry blossoms and butterflies" on top of the Spellbinders Fleur de Lis die after cutting it out with the Labels 18. My sentiment is a ticket from the set "Variety Sayings" from Paper Cupcakes  which I tied with DMC floss to the die.

For the inside, I used a sentiment that is from the set "The poetry of birds" which is also from McMahon Five. Hope you will check out all of these, and maybe you will find something you love as well. I  wish you all a wonderful Sunday and a great week ahead.

Card Details:
Paper: Spring blossoms, McMahon Five, Rubber Cottage
Ink: Tim Holtz distress inks
Other: Spellbinders labels 18, fleur de lis, scalloped rectangles, dmc floss, ribbon-Stampin' Up

My flowers are made from a Sizzix die with a button which I tied a bow through.

Catch the Bug

My first experience with Bugaboo Stamps came last month during a challenge while creating for Sweet Sketch Wednesday which you can see here .  So when I found the challenge site for them this week, I decided to play along. Catch the Bug is having a distressed/shabby chic challenge that will end tomorrow, so if you are so inclined don't delay. I decided to use the same image that I used for SSW, Fancy Umbrella #4 which I love and create something that I could use every day or at least almost every day. I will be starting a new design team in September and to keep up with all of my commitments I decided to convert an old scrapbook that I have had for years and years into a challenge journal. As many of you know, I love vintage and this will be something that pleases me each time I work in it. I will give details on designers in my card details at the end of the post. I layered a large piece of design paper on some very vanilla card stock to begin and turned it at a slight angle. My umbrella is in a digital frame from Percy and Bloom and then cut out and distressed with ink and colored with distress inks. I used a textile embossing folder and then sponged it with distress inks to make a background for my sentiment. I also used a text stamp to stamp on the bracket.

For the inside I made tabs for the design paper to make separate areas for each of the teams info. I also added more of the paper and dressed it up with a variety of stamps and sentiments. I love how this turned out and hope you will also. Be sure and stop by the blog if you have time.

I off stamped the images on the pages and stamped with the third impression to give it an aged effect.

Take care of yourselves and hope to see you tomorrow for my SCH post. Happy Day!

It's another Wednesday, can you believe how fast the week's are going by? At
Sweet Sketch Wednesday this week we are using a redo of sketch 64 from last year making this Sketch 115-64 and one of my favorites by the talented Arlana.

And our fabulous sponsor for this week is Digi Stamp Boutique who is giving the grand prize winner this week, their choice of 6 of her fantastic digital images.
I created an easel card for this week's challenge using "Snow Peeps" which is a fantastic set from Digi Stamp with several elements that you can pair with the two snowmen, as well as a drift of snow. I had so much fun creating this card to show you.  I used papers that I purchased from Rubber Cottage , the white is heavily textured and the navy is speckled with white flecks. I layered a piece of light blue in as well. Don't you love that tree punch from Martha Stewart? The smaller snowflake is hers as well. I used snow glitter to dust the snow hills and then using a glue pad sparkled the snowflakes with finer white glitter.

For the inside I used the other snowman and another one of the snowflake dies from Spellbinders (the navy one is also from this set) to make my brace for the easel card. I loved glittering up these snowflakes!

Here's hoping you will stop by at Sweet Sketch Wednesday and see what my design team sisters have in store for you and that you will take the time to play along with us this week. Also be sure and stop by DSB to check out the lovely images.

I want to put a personal note here and apologize to you that I haven't been able to visit for the last couple of weeks as much as I would like, I am sorry if I have missed some of your goodies. Life has a way of complicating things and I have just not been able to take the time to visit as much as I would like to. Hopefully things will calm down and I will be able to get back in the crafting room and on the computer soon. Thanks for understanding.
Hugs to you all!

Vintage Christmas....

Welcome to another Sensational Saturday at Sugar Creek Hollow.  We
know it is August and it has been so hot in so many areas but it is time
to cool things down and think Christmas.  This week our challenge
to you is to make a VINTAGE CHRISTMAS
CARD
.

We want you to put away your cute images and find a vintage Christmas
image in your craft room or online.  For this challenge you also
need to get out your most vintage papers and embellishments.  There
are lots of freebies available online so use your favorite search engine
and you will find lots of options.  If you are in the need of some
retail therapy, there are also a number of wonderful vintage products in
the craft stores now.

Vintage doesn't necessarily mean overly embellished especially since you
want to be able to afford the postage to mail your creation but you do
want to make it look old so this is the time to think inks, distressing,
lace, antique buttons, etc. - oh my what endless possibilities.

I actually started my card a couple of weeks ago when the challenge was to create your own design paper, I started looking online for some free vintage images and found the two that I used in this collage design along with some free design paper that I had picked up earlier this year. I will leave links to all three of these sites in my card details and I hope you will check them out, as they are excellent resources. I simply moved and layered until I created the look that I wanted, also turning these beautiful color images into sepia toned ones to create the aged weathered appearance that I was after. I printed it out on card stock, distressed and sponged my edges and then layered with my sentiment and a black satin ribbon, so simple but I was pleased with the result.

We will be choosing a random winner and that person will receive a
winner's badge to display on her blog and a digi of our choice.  In
addition, the Design Team will choose one project as Card of the Week
and the creator will receive a badge to display and will be in the
running for a Guest Designer spot.

Our designers pulled out all the stops to create vintage Christmas cards
for your inspiration.  For details on each card just click on the
designer's name and you will be taken to their blog.

Have a wonderful and sensational Saturday!

Sassy Cheryl's and SSW!

It's Wednesday and time again for a great sketch from our lovely Arlana and a challenge for you at Sweet Sketch Wednesday where you will always find inspiration, beautiful images and a chance to win a wonderful prize....and this week it is a $5 gift certificate from our lovely Sassy Cheryl's . This is my first time playing with the fun images and I had such a great time.

Now for our fun sketch, I know you will want to try this one!!

For my card I used a paper pack from Stampin' Up " Razzleberry Lemonade" and since it was double sided I was able to make my layers and coordinate it with some SU melon mambo card stock. My coloring was done with SU markers and the cute embellies at the top are Recollections from Michael's.

I decided not to add a sentiment just yet as I am not sure how I will use this card....maybe a friend, thinking of you or birthday card....will just have to wait and see.
Now on the blog to see what Genevieve has posted for you this week, I always love reading what each of the ladies have come up with each time and you will want to see the way they have used the images this week....they have all blown this challenge away!!

All Neutrals at Sugar Creek

Welcome to Saturday and another sensational one at Sugar Creek
Hollow.  This week our challenge is all about NEUTRALS.  We want you to create
a vintage, primitive or shabby chic card or other paper-crafted project
in neutral colors, preferably off-white, Kraft or gray.  You may
use a bit of color in your vintage style image but nowhere else on your
creation.

This should be a very easy challenge because there are so many gorgeous
neutral papers and embellishments available online and in the craft
stores now and the best part is that so many of them are of a vintage
style.

I will admit that I struggled just a bit with this one as I didn't realize how much black and brown that I use....Love the grays and ended up using two of them from Stampin' Up and finding a lovely dp from K&Co's paper pack "Julianne", a piece of Kraft colored text paper that I then stamped with Tim Holtz distress ink in pumice stone using SU's set "Close as a Memory" floral. I am really happy with this look and will be using it again. One of my other faves is this vintage lace that I have from McMahon Five. I found a pack of these wonderful heart charms while away with my niece the other weekend and tied it with embroidery floss to the Spellbinders Fleur de Lis frame.

Looking forward to seeing what you come up with....
We will give one random winner a digi of our choice and a badge to
display.  In addition the Design Team will choose a Card of the
Week and the creator will receive a badge to display and will be in the
running for a Guest Designer spot.

Our designers have created some wonderful inspiration for you and if you
would like to see the details, just click on their name and you will be
taken directly to their blog.

Have a wonderful weekend.

Card Details:
Paper: Stampin' Up going gray and gray, K& Co dp "Julianne"

Birthday Card!

Hello my friends....hope you are all well! I am exhausted this evening as Rick and I are still cleaning house...who knew we were so dirty??? Still loving my new steam cleaner, the windows have never been this clean and what I love is that it is so fast! On to my card for today, I put this together for two challenges, the first being the 100th challenge at Stampin' Sisters in Christ where Doodle Pantry is the sponsor and they are asking for a creature on your card, be it an ant or an elephant or something in between. I used one of my Doodle Pantry images "Happy Bird"...this time using the pre colored image and sentiment from this set. I placed it on a piece of DP digital paper from Laurie's Baby Basics paper set. So fast and easy. I am also entering this at Stamps R Us , I participated in a blog hop for them a few days ago and wanted to enter this challenge for a birthday card. Be sure and check out both of these challenge blogs and hopefully you will want to play along.

I am off to do some commenting and if I haven't been to visit you yet, I will be sure and see you tomorrow. Have a wonderful evening and see you soon.

Playing with new stamps

Many of you may already be aware of the store and challenge blog Paper and Such but just in case you don't I will give you a direct link to the store. Last month they came out with their very first set of acrylic stamps and after playing along in their blog hop, I was the lucky winner of all 4 new sets. Be sure and go by the store and check these out. Julie Smith, the owner and I used to be on a design team together at There's Magic in the Air and I was so happy for her when she started this new venture. You will find lots of great items at Paper and Such, so be sure and stop in for a visit.

The challenge this week is a sketch and I wanted to use the new set "Waterlily", so I turned the sketch on it's side so that I could use the beautiful sentiment as my focal image. This set has a lovely waterlily image along with these two beautiful sentiments, one of which I used inside of my card.

I hope you enjoy this, sorry to be so quiet lately, Rick and I are doing some spring cleaning in August. I have 3 rooms and a bath down so far. I have a new toy that I am super crazy about. It is a floor steamer that has a removable handheld steamer to get things above the floor. Rick has told the cats to run or they'll be next, lol. He isn't far off, I have tried it on just about everything that I can. Steam cleaned the bath, floors, windows (unbelievable job on these, never could get them clean without streaking), mattress, pillows, glass topped stove and microwave. I only got this yesterday and it is my favorite cleaning tool. Since it is too hot to be outside, thought we would take advantage of the A/C. Rick is so much help, he is wielding the vacuum and doing a fabulous job! Well, enough of Mr. and Mrs. Clean, hope you guys are having a fantastic week and will see you in the morning for my Sweet Sketch Wednesday post.
Happy Day all!
