Wings and Sugar Creek Hollow....

Happy Saturday all.....hope you are having a great weekend!

I am so excited to show you my card for this week's challenge at Sugar Creek Hollow where in addition to asking you as usual to create in a vintage/shabby chic fashion we are also adding "things with wings" such as butterflies or bees, etc.
Rick and I had to run an errand out of town this week and while there I just "had" to stop at a couple of craft stores, I am sure you understand. I picked up this beautiful Prima paper "Almanac"  The ribbon and the embossing folder that I used on the black label is also new, lol.

I did a bit of snipping on the fancy tags 2 die that I cut from some of the same paper pad to give it a different look. After cutting and embossing the butterfly and sponging it with distress inks I took the
same die and fussy cut a piece of the design paper to give a border to my butterfly.

Using the piece of design paper that was left after trimming my front cover and
black card stockto dress up the inside.
A few gems and my card is complete.

I hope you can join our challenge this week as we love to visit and see your creations.
One random winner will receive a digi of our choice and the Top Pick for this week will
be in the running for a Guest Design spot.

Thanks so much for stopping by for a visit, hope to by your place soon!

Card Details:
Paper: Stampin' Up card stock, Prima "Almanac"
Ink: Tim Holtz distress inks
Other: The Paper Studio ribbon, Spellbinders bugs, labels 18 and fancy tags two dies,

Vintage Animal Farm

Happy Autumn my friends and welcome, so glad you
could join me for this week's "Vintage Animal Farm" Challenge at Sugar Creek Hollow !
We ask that you create using a vintage/shabby chic animal or animal scene.

Don't you love my chicken? He was a free image which I found at Vintage Fan Girl , you may remember my school image that I used a few weeks ago....it was also from this great site.

I love black and cream or white with red....these are DCWV La Creme papers, that front piece is even flocked, how fabulous is that?

My card base is black with the same black card stock layering my front layer and separating the design paper and the beautiful cherry cobbler card stock. My gingham ribbon is one from my local fabric outlet and perfect in my eye for this card.

Hope this inspires you to join us this week for our challenge.
One random winner will receive a free digi of our choice and a winner's badge
and the person picked as our Top Pick by our Design Team will also get a winner's badge to display on their blog and a chance for a monthly Guest Design Team spot.

Enjoy this first weekend of Fall, Rick and I are off to shoot in a
tournament with some friends, hope I do well.
hugs.....

Bookmark for Doodle Pantry.

Happy Friday, we have almost made it to the weekend!

I wanted to show you this corner bookmark that I made the other week using the flower and sentiment from Doodle Pantry's set "Agapanthus Flower" which you can find here .
This is one of DP's older sets but one of my very favorites. There are so many
beautiful sets featuring a wide variety of flowers.

I used scraps from some retired Stampin' Up designer papers and a textured card stock by Bazzill.
I love the edgelit and embossing borders that Stampin' Up came out with last year and I used both of these on my edge...placing the cut part at the point where my papers met. You cannot see it in this picture, but I added some sparkle to my flowers with a stardust pen.

Here is a picture of the bookmark in my book.

If you haven't tried this technique before, here is the link to the tutorial that I used on Splitcoast Stampers.

You have a couple more days to get your entry in at Doodle Pantry for this month's challenge, and if you haven't been by yet....be sure to check out all of the new sets that were released this month.
We had a release at the first of the month and more sets during a surprise mini release mid month.
Something for everyone and all at a great price.

Thanks for stopping by, hope you are all well and have a
 great weekend planned.

oh so Pretty in Pink....

Yummy, I love pink!!

That is our challenge to you this week at Sugar Creek Hollow where as always we ask you to create something in the vintage/shabby chic theme.
I know some of you say, I don't do vintage but I wish you would give it a try.
It is easier than you think and we would love to see you join in our challenges.

I used the image "Peonies in a vase" that is from Beccy's Place where I have found many lovely images.   Be sure and check her blog,
After coloring the image I ran it through the Stampin' Up lattice embossing
folder. I used some of my favorite papers and stamps to create a background.
Don't you love that trim with the pearls, more of my score a while back at a local fabric outlet.

The rest of our team has created some beautiful cards for you this week,
be sure to stop by SCH and follow the links to their blogs.

Then I hope you will think pink and join us this week.

Have a wonderful Saturday my friends, hope you are doing
something you enjoy.
See you soon.

I am entering my card into the September challenge at Beccy's Place where the only requirement is to use one of her images.

Card Details:
Paper: SU chocolate, My Mind's Eye Madison Ave

Flourishes Noon Time Challenge

Well there is nothing like being last minute, is there? I am getting this card in under the wire for Flourishes Dear Santa Challenge that ends today at 5 pm. They are having this month's release and since I would dearly love to win the new sets I did a quick creation.

The challenge is to make a card fit for a kid, just that simple. I used their set "Sleigh Ride" to create my card. I just recently bought this paper pack from My Mind's Eye "Merry" and love the sweet images and bright colors. I stamped the beautiful deer in Stampin' Up baja breeze, adding glitter to his beautiful rack, added a few chipboard and die cut pieces and I fell in love. I have a niece that will dearly, no pun intended, love this card.

I know I didn't give you time to enter the challenge this time, but do stop by their blog and look at all of the beautiful eye candy with this month's release....and wish me luck.
hugs my friends.....

It's a Surprise Mini Release....

How about a sweet surprise on a Thursday?
Laurie at Doodle Pantry decided to surprise us all with 5 new items released in the middle of the month. I had the pleasure of creating this cute gift bag using the new set Watering Can which is free with purchase for a limited time.  I added some buttercups which you can find in the set Buttercups  which has outline and color images.

Watering Can - FREE with purchase

Isn't it adorable? I used the outline image which I colored with my spectrum noir pens. Adding just a few strips of ribbon and a few micro beads to the centers and I have a bag for a special someone.

Be sure and check out the new releases by stopping by the new release page at Doodle Pantry.

Your surprise starts now........

Silver Snowflakes

Hi all, just dropping in to post a card for the new release challenges that have started at Flourishes , they have several different ones going on and they will end on Friday, so hurry on over and take a look.

This is their any which way sketch....just choose the one above that you want to work with and get stamping.
I used their set "Sleigh Ride"! Embossing the sleigh and sentiment in silver to match my layer of silver metallic paper which I also used to punch my snowflakes. I love this card stock from Rubber Cottage, it has flecks of white through out it that remind me of falling snow.

Hope you have time to check out their sneak peeks and join in the challenges for your chance to win some of the new stamps.
Thanks for stopping by and happy day!

SCH is going with Fabric!

Happy Saturday my friends, hope you are starting out on a great weekend of fun things!
Rick and I are off to another tournament this morning, we are having a blast spending time with friends and shooting again. Hope you are doing something you enjoy.

At Sugar Creek Hollow this week we are using fabric in our designs, so we ask you to create a vintage/shabby chic card or project using fabric but no ribbon or lace! I didn't realize how much I depended on one or the other until I couldn't use them, lol.

I used papers and chipboard from Colorbok's Antique Paperie collection for my card this week with only the sentiments stamped. Embossing with Cuttlebug's baby's breath, liquid pearls, leaves from sizzlelits little leaves and a scalloped and embossed border give just the right punch. Do you see my fabric? It is the sheer yellow bg with the pinked edges. I love the way you can see through this just a bit in person. The fabric was originally intended for a jar topper but I think it looks much better on my card.

I used another part of that same paper to dress up the inside
adding a birthday sentiment for my friend.

I am entering my card at Mojo Monday using this week's sketch.

Be sure and stop by SCH to see what the rest of the gang has up their sleeves.
We hope you can join us this week in our fabric challenge!

Happy Day......

Card Details:
Paper: GinaK, Colorbok
Ink: Memento Rich Cocoa
Other:
Colorbok chipboard, Cuttlebug EF, Liquid pearls, SU emboss and die
Sizzlits leaves
Stamps: SU Happy Everything, Noteworthy

Playing with papers....

Hey there .... is everyone having a wonderful week? I hope so!

I have been playing just a bit as I have been trying to get some things accomplished around the house, not nearly as much fun as crafting.

Have you been to Doodle Pantry to check out this month's latest releases
if not please do as you will love Laurie's new sets and until
Sept 9th you will find a 35% off sale!

This is an unusual card size for me but I have had these textured gate fold long cards by DCWV
for quite a while and decided they would work wonderfully with my idea.
I am using the new Holiday Joy Digi paper pack  along with a sentiment from Holly Stag.
I printed the papers and punched a 3/4 inch square which I layered on a black and red square and layered on a piece of black card stock.
The sentiment was cut with a oval die and layered on a scalloped one.
Add a gold bow and ribbon and you have a fabulous card for your Christmas stash.

I simply punched a larger square which I cut on the diagonal and placed in each corner of the inside.

I hope you like my paper rich card and will give it a try.

Don't forget to check out all of the many specials now going on at Doodle Pantry.

Happy Day!

Vintage School Days with SCH

Happy Saturday and welcome to my Sugar Creek Hollow post, hope you are ready to join in and play along with us this week. We are going by to "School Days:" this week where we want to see something created with that theme in mind in a vintage/shabby chic design.

I found this great image free at Vintage Fan Girl and I hope you will go take a look.

I framed it with a sticker frame from Rebecca Sowers vintage frames adding a couple of Kraft photo tabs.
My sentiment, bg and tab all come from several different Stampin' Up sets, I stamped them with vintage sepia Versafine ink. Do you love the polka dot and note papers....wish I had gotten more those at the show in Charlotte, these pads with lots of colors and patterns and 24 sheets are by Jenni Bowlin and were only a dollar, what a steal!

Adding a star from who knows where that I have had forever and some of my unused and unloved DMC thread I tied a bow around the twill ribbon. The ABC's were silver but I used copper mixatives from Tim Holtz to change the color.

I was talking with Cec, SCH's owner this week and told her that I had struggled with this week's challenge for some reason, ever have those times??? but in the end, I am very happy with my card.
Red and yellow are one of my fave color combos.

Hope you have time this week to play along with us at Sugar Creek Hollow!

Happy Labor Day Weekend.

If you missed it, please take a look at my earlier post today with the new release at Doodle Pantry.

Card Details:
Paper: Rubber Cottage and  Stampin' Up
Other: Jenni Bowlin journal pads, Making Memories metal letters, SU twill ribbon, DMC thread, Rebecca Sowers frame stickers
Stamps: SU Art of Life, Happy Harmony, Totally Tabs

It's New Release Day at Doodle Pantry!!

Happy Labor Day Weekend....it is Sept 1st and that means it is time for the next release at Doodle Pantry. If you click here you will be taken to our New Release page where you can see all of the new sets. Laurie has also colorized 4 of our previously released sets, one of my all time favorites Cornflower and just in time for Autumn cards, Let us be Thankful . We also have loads of specials going on which you will find here .As usual, our free with purchase set and our free set for joining in our Doodle Pantry challenge (using a DP image and which starts today at Noon) but last but not least....we are having a sale! Just enter the code 35LABORDAY and you will save 35% off your order (excluding gift certificates) from now through September 9th!

I'll let a secret out, we get to see the sets as Laurie is developing them and then when they are all ready we get to choose the one we want to work with for release day, I was so excited when I saw this set Moose as I had lots of ideas running through my head and I knew that I would have lots of people that would love to get one of these cards.

For my card, I used one of the digital papers that comes in the set along with a sentiment from it.
The trees are part of a PTI set "In the Meadow" which I stamped one of the trees on the die and simply sponged the other one. My small tree attached to the sentiment tag is part of the paper, when I punched it out with a Martha Stewart tree punch it left a bit of the surrounding light green giving it some shading, one of my happy unplanned things.

I used the moose outline image and colored him with my spectrum noir markers, using foam dots to elevate him on the card.

I used a MS border punch and the same tree punch to decorate the inside.

I was so excited about this set that I came up with another idea, as my Christmas packages usually lean more towards a rustic, natural feel I thought that some Kraft moose tags would be just perfect.

I used the colored moose head combing it with Doodle Pantry's Christmas Wreath set using it's wreath and sentiment. I was able to get 10 tags to a sheet by turning it to landscape in Word and creating 5 columns. So for the price of two sheets of card stock and a bit of ink, I now have 20 beautiful tags.
Lots of Laurie's sets work so beautifully together with the fun part being that we get to combine images to create something entirely new each time we sit down at our computers.
It is a wonderful world of beautiful possibilities.

Don't forget the great sale going on and get a cup of coffee and take a look around at the store....there are so many goodies waiting for you, be sure and look at last month's card sets if you would love to get a fast head start on this year's holiday cards.
And one more thing, be sure and check back at the DP Blog where this month's challenge starts today at Noon. Thanks for stopping by......
