Recipe Time at Sugar Creek Hollow!! Come Share with Us!

It is Saturday and we have a really fun challenge for you at Sugar Creek Hollow this week. We want to see a vintage, shabby chic or primitive card or other paper-crafted project that features a RECIPE CARD. The recipe card can be shown either on the front or inside your project and the recipe itself should be a family favorite that has been passed down over the years.

I have decided to create a family cookbook/scrapbook listing some of the recipes from my Mom and Grandmother and then some that are favorites from the family gatherings at my home for the past 30 years. My mother passed away in 1990 after a short bout with Leukemia and this is one of our favorites that she loved to fix. Mexican Cornbread. Here is her recipe:

Mexican Cornbread   Ailene Frazier
2 cups self-rising cornmeal mIx            1 cup buttermilk
1 small green pepper chopped            1 can cream style corn
(jalapeƱo if desired may be added)    2 eggs
1 small onion                                     8 oz shredded cheese
¼ cup oil
Mix together all ingredients, except shredded cheese. Put ½ of batter in
pan.  Sprinkle with shredded cheese and pour the other part of the batter over this. Bake at 425 degrees for 30 minutes or until golden brown.

Here is a close up of my scrapbook page....

I used a Sizzix flower die and bookplate and a Spellbinders curvy rectangle die to make my frame for the picture. The chipboard is some that I have had forever and don't recall the manufacturer.

For the front of my book I used Stampin' Up real red and kraft card stock. My apron is by The Stamping Boutique and the 40's apron lady by A Day for Dasies. More unknown chipboard helps decorate my front. Since I am not scrapbooking much, I thought that this would be a perfect family scrapbook for the future, when my niece takes over the cooking for family meals.

This is so delicious with a homemade chili or soup in the Fall and Winter. I think Marsha has a cheesy soup recipe that I may just have to fix to go with this!

If your recipe isn't easily read from the photo of your project, then we would ask that you detail it in your post. It would also be great if you could show a photo of the finished recipe. Your recipe can be of any type and we would love to hear the story behind it. Soon your family's favorite could become someone else's family favorite so thanks for sharing.

This week one random winner will receive a digi of our choice and a winner's badge to display. In addition, the Design Team will choose one project as Card of the Week and the creator will receive a badge and will be in the running for a Guest Designer spot.

Don't forget, we also have Christmas Blog Candy for one lucky winner to be chosen from our challenge entries between now and Christmas Eve.

Our designers have shared some wonderful recipes so click on their name to be taken directly to their blog where you will find many more details about their recipe and their project.

Can't wait to see what you have to show us!! Thanks for stopping by and wishing you all a wonderful weekend. Hugs, Patti

Patti,
Great idea to combine everything in a book. I'm sure your niece will love to have this family treasure one day.

MMMMmmmmmm....I am hungry already. I am thinking your cornbread and Marsha's cheese soup would be great together. Love the image you chose for your card as well.

oh, I wish I could play but I'm not in my usual playground!! Love the idea of a scrapbook of family favorites! When my DD got married I wrote many of our family favorites in a book for her along with a "story" behind each recipe -- wasn't into paper crafting at the time but it was still pretty neat!

This is a wonderful idea Patti and such a cool card and recipe book. Recipe sounds so yummy, especially with cheese soup or chili. Thanks for sharing! Wish I had time to play but am on overload with all the kids coming home and trying to get the house decorated before Wednesday, some shopping done and preparing some food ahead of time. Have a blessed and wonderful Thanksgiving. "Hugs"

Oh, this is so lovely, great idea and your page is so perfect with the welcome, country feeling. Now I need to try this recipe since my hubby and I love cornbread. I may just see if my MIL wants to try a page while she is here and we can build on it to some day pass on to my DD. TFS, love it!!!!
