Sugar Creek Hollow ---Seconds

I entered a card yesterday for the sketch challenge at Sugar Creek Hollow and I decided to come back for seconds. I had printed this image the other day and it was just calling my name and since I pretty much designed it during the night while lying in bed (do you ever do that?) I just had to put it together. The image name is "Vintage Balloon" and I love it!! My Kraft card base has been stamped with images from Stampin' Up Travel Post after first off stamping once to soften the look. I used a piece of K&Co Life's Journey layered on some Bazzill green. I also used a SU Itty Bitty Background to give some dimension to the balloon and then ran it through my Big Shot using a Sizzix Harlequin texture plate. I took a closer photo and hopefully you see the effects of this.

I have a set of Designer Dies by Clear Dollar Stamps that I have been using a lot lately and in this case I used two of them. They work so well.

Raise The Bar with a Sentiment

I was surfing Renee's blog last week and I came across a challenge site that I had never seen called Raise the Bar where their challenge #56 is "I'm just saying" which is to create something with only a sentiment and not stamped images. I immediately thought of the bible verses that I have from Verve and picked Proverbs 3:5. I need to repeat this one often as I struggle with this daily. I accept all prayers. I am pleased with how this turned out. My card is a 5 1/2 inches square, which I don't do often but am enjoying creating a lot. Now if I just had premade envelopes to match.lol  I love the Memory Box papers that I picked up a couple of months ago. Sugar Creek Hollow Sketch Time

I love playing at their site each week and I hope that I inspire some of you to check them out, Tracy also offers some free images, if you would like to try before you buy.

Now to my card, I am using the image "Butterfly Tile" which is colored with Prismas and OMS and sponged with Memento Bamboo Leaves. I think my dp showcases this image perfectly and if you are eyeing my ribbon flower, you can find the tutorial on how to do that at my friend Renee's blog. She is also one of the many talented designers for SCH.
Renee has pointed me to another challenge site and I will post that card a little later tonight, I hope, so keep an eye out....you don't want to miss this.

Oh you Lucky Bird!!

"Lucky Bird" is the image that we received on Friday from Designed 2 Delight for participating in her challenge last week and the great news is since it was the first Friday in the month....it is free to you also. You can take part each week by creating something with the free image you receive and every week that you do, you will get another one of Faith's images free. Don't you just love that word!!

Faith also has a separate challenge blog Card Ideas where they have a challenge each Saturday using images from D2D showcased by a talented design team. The challenge this week was to go "Green" and by that they want you to create something using something you have reused or recycled. I had just taken this box in my stamping room last week....it had a piece of jewelry in it at one time from QVC and it was so sturdy that I thought I could use it for something, turns out it is the perfect size to hold a dozen nuggets. I have made nugget boxes in the past but this couldn't have worked any better.
I paper pieced Lucky with dp from Scrapbook Walls and colored him with SU markers. I used a pop dot on his tail to give him some dimension. The cuttlebug folder "Birds and Vines" was perfect with him. I really like how he turned out and will use him at both challenge sites. I hope you will stop by and check out this fun blog.

I hope you like the card that I created for Joan...I used the Justrite set "Stitched with Love" which I colored with Prismas and OMS. I love this dp by Prima "The Sasha Collection", I think it is so bright and happy. I used a Spellbinder lattice die to create my frame for the image. That paper is from K&Co.

Daffodils for Designed 2 Delight

Here is my card for this week at Delightful Inspiration and their progressive challenge. This weeks image is "Daffodils" (I also used a sentiment from her set "Beautiful Life, which I layered over the floral image)....you still have until Thursday night to play along. And remember to stop by on Friday when Faith will be giving away the free image for March, if you create something using that free image, she will send you the next weeks image free and every week thereafter that you play in the challenge.

Is it Spring?

It felt like Spring here yesterday....so warm but not much sunshine. Pat Pedder has chosen the challenge at Paper Cupcakes this week and it's to use Spring colors in our cards....Yellow, Green and Blue. And since I hear you, and most of you are more than ready for springtime to arrive, I know you will want to play along this week. As always, you can use any image, but if you use one from Paper Cupcakes, you will be entered to win Twice!

I used my newest embossing folder to create a frame which I then ran through the big shot and cut out the center so that the lovely image "Sunday Afternoon" could show through the opening.

For the inside I simply used a border punch and then punched my sentiment and mounted on top of the border. I hope you will stop by and visit with all of the DT...I know I can't wait to see what they all post today.

Inside Out

Hello my friends....

I am posting a card today for two challenges, one is a sketch and the other is to decorate both the inside and outside of your card. I found the sketch challenge at   Sweet Sketch Wednesday while visiting at Sharon Besal's Blog where she is on the design team for both Sweet Sketch and my all time fav challenge site Sugar Creek Hollow . The challenge at SCH is to finish the inside as well as the outside of your card, and let me tell you that the DT at SCH have outdone themselves this week, there are some of the most beautiful cards displayed that I have ever seen. I absolutely loved the idea of this challenge as I have always loved to finish my cards on the inside, but the sketch had me thinking just a bit, I must admit.

I created an easel card, which is one of my favorite styles.

This is a picture of the card set up for display. I used 3 images from Sugar Creek Hollow in creating this; vintage, Believe and Butterfly Tile. With the Butterfly Tile image I added a bold black frame around it in my Word program to intensify the border and behind it I created my own dp using the vintage image repeatedly. The Believe image was cut out with a Clear Dollar Stamps Designer Die and then layered on to a Spellbinders Labels 4. I added an extra piece of dp on the inside flap and stamped with a flourish out of Stampin' Up's set Elements of Style to give an open space to write a note.

My flower is made with just pages from a paperback book that I ran through a Sizzix die and crumpled and sponged with black ink. I am so happy with the way this turned out and Rick (bless his heart) who has to see everything that I create says this is his favorite card that I have ever made. Papercraft Star Sketch & Ribbon Accent

Happy Saturday afternoon....hope your weekend is going well. I have been to the grocery and did some laundry, so I thought I would take some me time and post this card that I made yesterday for a challenge at Papercraft Star . I follow their blog, but this will be my first time playing along with them.

This is the sketch for this week. I used stamps from some of my Stampin' Up retired sets that I don't use often enough. It is a shame to have such beautiful images sitting idle. I punched several borders, using a punch by Martha Stewart and layered to create my band. The flower soft is something else that I have used very little since buying it and I do love the look it gives to a card. My ribbon accent is something I am trying for the first time after getting a lesson on this gorgeous idea from my friend Renee and she has been generous enough to post a tutorial here so that you can see how she creates her beautiful accents. Mine does not do justice to the beautiful ones she has made, but don't think I won't try again.lol I love this idea!
