Sugar Creek Hollow Color Challenge

Welcome to this week's Sensational Saturday at Sugar Creek Hollow where our challenge for this week is a color one using blue, cream and brown keeping in mind that we are a vintage, retro, primitive style challenge blog.

One random winner will receive a digi of our choice and a winner's badge to display. In addition, the Design Team will choose one project as Card of the Week and the creator will receive a badge and will be in the running for a Guest Designer spot.

Since my card last week was so girly, I decided to create a masculine card for this week. I always remember my Grandfather with his pocket watch and my Dad was never without a knife in his pocket, so this retired set "Papa's Pocket" from Stampin' Up seemed just the thing to honor them both. I just did a repeat of the knife stamp , then tore the edges, distressed and sponged with distress inks. I used a SU impression plate to create some texture on my brown card stock....the tag was created using Spellbinders standard tag die. I off stamped the pocket watch and coins, then stamping the sentiment direct to the paper.

I love stamping an envelope to match my cards, I think it just gives a special touch to your cards. I don't always do this anymore, but decided this one deserved it.

I want to thank all of you that joined us last week, we really appreciate seeing your wonderful work and hope you will play again this week.

Be sure and stop by Sugar Creek Hollow and see what my teammates have to show you, you will not be disappointed. Thanks for the visit!

Rick and I are away for a couple of days and I am hoping this posted! Be by to see you soon. Hugs.....

Die Cuts at TSB....

Hello friends, I am stopping in to share this card that I created for the die cut challenge now going on over at The Stamping Boutique . I love this "Wagon full of hearts" from them and a heart die seemed the perfect choice. I also cut  a heart out of my new pack of Martha Stewart valentine paper. The coloring is done using Tim Holtz distress inks and then adding some stickles and stardust pen for some sparkle and shine. I found this cotton thread at Walmart. I love the way the colors are variegated. May have to save this valentine for my sweetie.
Hope you all are having a great week, Rick and I are getting away for an overnight trip, Looking forward to some time away from responsibilities. Talk to you all soon.
hugs....

Here I am playing again at Digi Doodle Shop's Challenge #91 Blues and Browns .
I have fallen in love with their images and have bought several that are so wonderful, but decided today to use this word art from them which believe it or not is in the FREE section. It is part of  a set Faith, Hope, Love. Don't you just love this and those beautiful swirls? I do!

For my card, I used design paper from a pack labeled Memory Boutique that I have had for a long time...layering this on to a card base of Papertrey Ink vintage cream. With an addition of some satin ribbon and a rose, my card is complete. I love the way my Labels 18 die just frames this beautiful verse. Stop by Digi Doodle and check out the teams cards and enter yours as well.

So glad you could stop by today for a visit, love hearing from you.

Clean and Simple....

Good morning my friends, hope your weekend is going well. We had lots of rain yesterday, but thankfully the temps were not cold , so no Snow word. I have loved that our only bit of snow has been a light skiff that melted by mid morning  on the roads. I am ready for Spring, flowers and butterflies. Do you think that was my inspiration for this card?

I went shopping last Monday to use a gift card and found a new Martha Stewart Punch around the Page set "Loops Heart" and this gorgeous ribbon by Pebbles. The butterfly is also a new purchase....from K&Co. I found a new challenge site this past week Word Art Wednesday where they give a free piece of word art each week and ask that you use it in your project. I am also using the sketch this week from Freshly Made Sketches (Thanks Betty for pointing me to this site).

And last but not least, I am entering my card into The Outlawz Sunday CAS challenge to use something new on our card. Everything on my card is newly purchased this week except for the textured white card stock from The Rubber Cottage and my pearls (Gina K Designs) that I added to the ribbon.

Enjoy your day and thanks for stopping by!

Girl Time at Sugar Creek Hollow....

Welcome to another Sensational Saturday at Sugar Creek Hollow and a new challenge. This week we want you to GO GIRLY and make very feminine vintage, shabby chic or primitive cards.

Now how fun is this??? Go as feminine as you would like and with Valentine's Day just around the corner....how appropriate.
I started out stamping a collage onto my Kraft card base, love this set by Inkadinkado. My tag is from a set that I picked up at Jo Ann's by K&Co in their Studio 112 line. I sponged around the edges and stamped the heart from the stamp set on it, adding some pink gems. Stamping the dress in the same Purely Pomegranate ink and then cutting it out with a Labels 18 die, I layered this onto a Fleur de lis die cut. Don't you just love that fiber ribbon, I found it in my stash and have had it for years, probably came in a scrapbook kit. My Prima vintage trinkets were so perfect for this card and I added another of the glitter foam hearts that I found at the Dollar Tree.

Here is the inside....

I distressed around the edges with Tea Dye distress ink and added stardust to the flowers on this heart.

One random winner will receive a digi of our choice and a winner's badge to display. In addition, the Design Team will choose one project as Card of the Week and the creator will receive a badge and will be in the running for a Guest Designer spot.

Check out the girly vintage cards created by our incredible Design Team. They are joined this week by a wonderfully creative Guest Designer, Claire Chapman. Clarie, we are so glad to have you join us!! Be sure and take a look and leave the team some love!

Have a fabulous weekend, whatever your plans may be.

Have you played at Doodle Pantry yet this month????

I hope that you have had time to play along with us this month at Doodle Pantry where all we ask of you is to use a Doodle Pantry image and then anything else goes....if you do not have a DP digital yet, stop by the store and look around and if you are still not sure, why not try out one of Laurie's freebies to get you started.

I am showing you one of this months new releases "Sheep Alphabet" along with digital paper from the LuvnHugs set. This was a fast card to create, I used the colored alphabet and placed my H and B in Photoshop where I re sized and added the rest of my text. Then in Word I simply added the border frame around my image, I really like how this turned out. Because I used the JPEG image it left the white around my new sentiment adding to the framed appearance....this is simply layered on top of my digital paper. By layering this on another piece of black card stock....my simple card is done.

Hope you will stop by Doodle Pantry, you have until the 24th of this month to join in on our challenge. If you enter, you will be sent this months featured set for free, which is not available in the store until after the 24th  "Workout Birdie"

I have another Doodle Pantry ready to show you soon, so keep your eyes open! Thanks for the visit. I really appreciate all of your support and kind words. On a personal note, I have been all day without a headache, hopefully my new meds are going to help.

Welcome to SSW and Cute Bird....

Hope this is finding you all well and happy out there, I am still fighting my headaches but went to the Doctor's yesterday and starting on some meds that we hope will help. I am also getting up early today to go get my blood work, so say a prayer that it will be good. Our sketch this week was a lot of fun to work with and I hope you think so as well and will give it a go.

Don't you just love the sweet image that I have used this week, it is from our sponsor Digi Stamp Boutique and from the collection "Cute Bird". You will love all four of the wonderful images included in this set, so be sure and stop by for a look. My wonderful teammates at Sweet Sketch Wednesday have some wonderful inspiration in their cards this week, so after your visit with me, don't forget to stop by. Don't forget to leave a comment at SSW when you enter your card  as that is required to be our Grand Prize winner of 6 of the fabulous digital stamps being given away by Digi Stamp.

My card base is Stampin' Up purely pomegranate with design papers from the Prima "Sparkling Spring" pack. I used SU and Tim Holtz distress inks to color this cutie. My ribbon is also SU purely pomegranate with a rose from Michael's dollar bin. I found this glittered heart in a package of different sizes and colors at my local Dollar Tree, thought they were so cute.

My Martha Stewart vintage lace punch helped dress up the inside of my card using more of the same design papers and card stock. Here's wishing you all a happy day and lots of fun, whatever you are up to. See you soon.

Crafter's Cafe/ Happy Birthday!

I am entering the Happy Birthday challenge now going on at The Crafters Cafe and since the sponsor is The Stamping Boutique  I am using one of Tracey's images "Valentine Background" which I just purchased a couple of weeks ago. I loved this cutie and I have several birthdays coming up in February, so I think it is perfect. Using my Prismacolor pencils and oms to color, I simply stamped the sentiment from Stampin' Up's set A Word for You and the floral from the Silhouette Sentiments and then trimmed my banner after adhering to the gingham design paper that I used from My Mind's Eye paper pack "Blush". I love the sheer bow with this beautiful image. Hope you like it as well and will stop by The Crafters Cafe, the challenge ends tomorrow night, so I hope you will have time to put something together and join the fun.
Take care, If I have missed visiting some of you in the last few days, I hope to be by soon. I have been fighting a terrible headache and just haven't felt like being on the computer as much.

Welcome to another Sensational Saturday at Sugar Creek Hollow.
This week we have a great challenge - EMBOSSING. You can create your vintage, shabby
chic or primitive card with dry or heat embossing.

Join us in saying hello to Digi Doodle Shop, a lovely new sponsor who
will be providing one random winner with a $10 gift certificate to their store. The random
winner will also receive a winner's badge from Sugar Creek Hollow to
display on her blog. In addition the Design Team will select one
project as Card of the Week and the creator of that card will receive a
badge to display and will be in the running for a Guest Designer spot.

I can't tell you how excited I was to find we were being sponsored by Digi Doodle Shop, I found them a few months ago and fell in love with their images, you have probably seen some of my cards using their images. For today's card I am using the set "Vintage Lamp" which has a wonderful variety of images and also a sentiment from their  "Thank You Sentiments" which has several different words and labels to mix and match and is free! Can't beat that. I used Papertrey Ink's vintage cream and a piece of chocolate brown by Gina K Design to start my base for the design papers from the K&Co Blossomwood pack. I dry embossed a piece of this using Cuttlebug's Textile folder. The lamp was colored with a Stampin' Up markers and distress inks and a stardust pen to give it it's sparkle. I am not sure of the vendor on my chipboard table but the doily scarf is stamped from a Gina K set Nana's Needlework. I also glued a piece of the paper to the chipboard bracket, distressing and then sponging. Here is a look at the inside, I used my designer dies by Clear Dollar Stamps to cut out the sentiment.

I hope you will stop by Digi Doodle Shop and take a look around, I am sure you will love their images as much as I do. I am also entering my card in their challenge this week as it just happens they are also asking for embossing. You will find it here .

The Design Team has used a number of the fabulous images from Digi Doodle Shop and have
created some wonderful inspiration for you. Be sure and stop over at SCH and take a look at the gorgeous cards by my team mates and thanks so much for your visit.

Snow Drifts and a Tea Bird......

Happy Thursday, hope you are doing well out there.... I have a card today that I am entering for the first time, in the Make it Monday challenge at Papertrey Ink. This week, you will see a video by Dawn McVey showing how to make a background using die cut borders. The only border die that I own by PTI is the "In the Meadow" set which you can find on this page here . It is two different size snow drifts. I cut two of each of the larger one in the teal and brown and then one of each color in the smaller size, by taking a small bit of the straight edge on the teal off, I was able to layer these. I used Tim Holtz frames and florals embossing folder to give a little texture to the pieces, then layering all three of these on a piece of white card stock. My cute little image is "Tea Bird" by Phindy's Digital Stamps and can be found here . Phindy's Blog challenge #87 this week is a color quartet....

My card base and the twill ribbon are Stampin' Up certainly celery which along with chocolate chip and bermuda bay and a couple of flesh copics were used to color my image. The button is also one of Papertrey Ink contributions. I love the dies at PTI and if you have never tried these, please do....you will love them. I have a few of the other style dies that they sale and they all cut like butter... I am going shopping at the new release on the 15th and hope to have more to show you soon. Hope you will stop by both of these and check out the great things happening at their sites.

Now to a more personal note,
For those of you that read my blog you will remember that I started a gratitude journal which I showed you in my post last Saturday for Sugar Creek Hollow and for today I am thankful for the good news we received at the hospital today. Rick went in to have the light run down his esophagus to check for problems, he has been have a lot of heartburn and acid reflux, they did find a high heital hernia, but the doc seems to think that it can be controlled with his medication and then just keep an eye out for future problems, His blood work came back very good. Hope to be by soon to see you...thanks for stopping by here.

Be sure and check these sites out if you are not familiar with them. The challenge at The Play Date Cafe ends tonight but you have all month to work with the sketch.

I used mostly Stampin' Up products for this card along with dies from Papertrey Ink. If you haven't tried their dies yet, you will love them. Crisp clean cuts and such a wonderful variety of designs.
My stamps come from two sets by SU "Thoughts and Prayers" and "Feathered Hope" which this last one is long retired....it was my very first stamp purchase.

Happy New Year and welcome to our first challenge of 2012 at Sugar Creek Hollow. This week we want you to save some trees and RE-PURPOSE PAPER TOWELS, TOILET PAPER OR COFFEE FILTERS. Instead of buying some designer paper for your project, go to your kitchen or bathroom and grab one of the above items and let's see how you can transform it and incorporate it into your vintage, shabby chic or primitive card or other paper-crafted project.

This week one random winner will receive a digi of our choice and a winner's badge to display. In addition, the Design Team will choose one project as Card of the Week and the creator will receive a badge and will be in the running for a Guest Designer spot.

I created two projects for this week, I used coffee filters that I soaked all day in some left over coffee and after squeezing out the extra, smoothed out and left to dry. Rick's words when seeing the bowl "I will have to see that mess on a card"! I die cut several circle shapes from one of the two filters and then stamped randomly with a Hero Arts text stamp using Versafine Vintage Sepia ink. I used part of a rumpled torn piece as my background over pieces of design paper from a vintage kit by Deja Views. My card base is chocolate brown Gina K card stock which is so heavy and lovely to use. I used a frame from the same kit to layer on a piece cut with a Spellbinders Labels 4. I had stamped a flourish image from Stampin' Up "Elements of Style". The circle shapes were also stamped with the text and then scrunched and layered to create my flowers which I attached with Stampin' Up brads. For my inside I used some of the same design paper stamped with more of the flourish and a Thanks sentiment. I really like how the texture of the paper gave the image a washed vintage look.

For my next project, I wanted to create a Gratitude journal. Seems as if I have been a bit of a bear lately and thought if I counted the small things to be grateful for each day, maybe it would help me and my attitude. Don't get me wrong, I am so blessed and grateful for my life, home and family, but sometimes care giving just kind of overwhelms me. I just need a kick in the pants, maybe.....lol.
But surely writing in this book should help, I love the look of it. It is just a 100 page notebook that I picked up long ago at Michael's in the dollar bin and the background flourishes were already there. I added layered Labels 4 dies stamping the ivory one with images by Stampin' Up in their set "Happy Harmony" (how appropriate). The chipboard pieces I antiqued with distress inks....see my monogram P! The flower is more of my text stamped coffee filter.

For the inside I used all of the stamps from this set, stamping randomly throughout the book. I am going to love writing in this, maybe my first entry should be " I am grateful for such a pretty book to write in". Here is a look at the front and back inside covers.

Our new Design Team is in place and everyone has worked hard to create some inspiration for you. I am so happy to have the new ladies starting today and look forward to the months ahead. Welcome!!!If you want details on how they re-purposed the various items, click on their names to go directly to their blogs.

Now off you go to Sugar Creek Hollow and have fun looking around. We can't wait to see what you come up with. Thanks for stopping by....hugs and wishes for a great day!
