Vintage Text at Sugar Creek Hollow!

Good morning my friends. How is your weekend, off to a great start I hope!

How about some texting? Not the kind you may do on your cell phone but some vintage text on your shabby chic/ vintage style card for this week's challenge at Sugar Creek Hollow . We ask that you
use text either in your papers or sentiment or any other creative way you may want to use text.

My text is in my background papers and the sentiment tagged in my bow.

I also used my favorite sentiment on the inside of my card. Creating this card
for some dear friends that took us out to dinner the other night.
After years of sharing dinners, dance nights and life, we got busy with our
own plans and had not done this for quite some time, so the night was full
of good conversation and memories.
Believe me when I say, we will be doing this again soon!

I am sure you will all love this image I am using this week since so many of you love vintage
things. This is Fancy Shoe from Doodle Pantry
I love this shoe and have seen it colored many different ways, all beautifully!

The lace and trims along with a punched border adds some texture to my card front.

Be sure and stop by at Sugar Creek Hollow to see what the rest of our talented team has created this
week to inspire you, it is with great sadness that I tell you that as of today our teammate Holly Young has stepped down. We will miss her creativity and great spirit as I know you will, but we wish her only the best in life.

I wanted to show you this picture of my Azalea blooming this past week, this is the first time I have ever seen an Azalea bloom in October. We planted this one in the spring after receiving it at my Mother-in-law's funeral. I could not believe my eyes. Also, I want to apologize for being absent lately, we have been away
on a trip and I have just been behind on my blogging.
Hope to see you soon, enjoy your day!

Sew Fashionable

Happy Saturday, I am so glad you stopped by to check out my card for this week's challenge at Sugar Creek Hollow where we are pleased to be sponsored by Live and Love Crafts your haven for vintage and shabby chic crafts. We were each supplied with some of their fabulous hand dyed crinkle seam binding....it is so pretty in person and I also used the packaging it came in to decorate the top of my dress form.

LogoLLC

Seambinding

We ask you to create a project this week with stitching on it and using something fashionable....dress, hat, shoes, etc.!

Since I am not a seamstress and the small sewing machine that I do have would not cooperate with me, I hand sewed the paper layer with a back stitch and used a running stitch to attach my fabric heart to my lace doily.

After using my texture pads on the background layer, I attached the paper wrap around my dress form with seam binding to the skirt bottom adding a seam binding belt. I love the paper they wrap the binding in, I feel like the child that gets a fabulous gift and love the box just as much as the item, lol!

I added distress inks to the chipboard hearts along with a herringbone brad, a scissor charm and a floss bobbin which I wrapped more of the seam binding around. I added a handmade tag with linen thread.

Please visit our great sponsor and check out her great store, I am sure you will finds lots of things that you will love, I certainly did.

I hope you will get out your sewing machine or if you are like me, your needle and thread
and play along with us this week.

Welcome to a wonderful Saturday and this week's challenge at Sugar Creek Hollow where we are asking you in a vintage/shabby chic fashion to create something with sparkle -in the form of glitter, gems, etc. Who doesn't love a little bling?

I am letting my papers do some of the talking this week...don't you love these?
They are part of the DCWV the Mariposa matstack and design paper pads. I added pieces of the glitter card stock to the top and bottom of this gorgeous collage paper. I love these Glitter dots so much that I added one to this butterfly as well.

Hopefully you are out enjoying this wonderful Autumn weekend and will find time later to join us in our challenge. The team has created some gorgeous inspirational pieces for you this week,
so be sure to stop by the blog.

A Nap for Autumn

Hello friends!

Are you familiar with Sassy Cheryl's digital images?

I first discovered Cheryl's images while designing at Sweet Sketch Wednesday and fell in love with her unique designs. She features such a great variety of characters in her designs.

I recently went shopping at Sassy Cheryl's (She even has a bargain bin) and picked up some new images. I printed this cutie out the other day and colored her with distress inks and spectrum noir markers. You can find "Nature Nap Girl" here for only 50 cents...can you believe that?

I am entering my card at Sassy Cheryl's challenge blog where the theme this week is Fall
and at The Sweet Stop where I found this great sketch that inspired me.

This image reminds me of what I love about Autumn...the ability to enjoy sitting outside in the cooler temperatures and maybe even taking a cat nap myself, clear blue skies and the last of summer flowers. I love the peaceful feel to Nature Nap Girl.

Thanks for the visit and I hope you will check out both of these great sites.

Card details:
Paper: GinaKDesigns chocolate brown, Stampin' Up baja breeze, SU Autumn Meadows design paper (retired)
Ink: Distress inks and Spectrum Noir
Other: Spellbinders circle and scallop rectangle dies, Martha Stewart oak leaf punch, Stampin Up linen thread and square punch, sentiment from SU Noteworthy set, Papertrey Ink buttons

#32 Give Thanks....

This week at Sugar Creek Hollow for our #32 challenge we are Giving Thanks for Autumn!
Your shabby chic/vintage themed card or project needs to use Autumn colors and if you so desire, it can be a Thanksgiving one. I decided to use both for my card and altered canister.

I love all...well, most of my creations, but once in a great while one comes along that I just love beyond reason and this is one of those.
I am such a huge fan of Autumn and the rich, beautiful colors associated
with this season that I think this challenge just called to me.
I will warn you that I took several pictures!

These papers from Prima's Reflections pad are so beautiful.

I added some additional stamping with a retired Stampin' Up set Country Blessings and flourishes from a Studio 112 set with distress inks in Frayed Burlap and Walnut Stain.
After cutting a window in the design paper, I took another piece of the rust textured card stock that I used as my card base and cut a scalloped oval to place behind my opening. The sentiment was stamped in Walnut Stain on the original piece cut out of the design paper. I layered these and used foam dots to make my frame. The leaves were cut with a Martha Stewart punch and Spellbinders dies. Love the way they look out of that book print paper from the pad.

While making this card the other day and enjoying the cool Fall air, I happened to use the
last of a canister of cocoa......so my thoughts turned to altering it.
I used some of the same papers from Prima to cover the can and decorate the top.
I plan to use this as decoration in my own home.

Hope you have enjoyed my Autumn projects and it has inspired you to join
us this week at Sugar Creek Hollow.
We would love to see you and your cards.

I am entering these into the following challenges:
All about the Vintage shades of brown challenge

Flowers for StampTV

It has been forever since I have played at Stamp TV......and that is not much of an exaggeration, but I wanted to support my friend Linda who is hosting the Free for All-Flowers challenge this week. I hope you will join in as well.

I decided to make another Christmas card for my list, I really hope to be well ahead before time to send them out. I used 3 different sets from Gina K Designs to create my card, I love all three of these sets and use them often to create my holiday items. The sentiments and the background stamp come from "blessed is the season" and "Very Merry Christmas" with the beautiful poinsettia a part of the fabulous set "A Year of Flowers".

Ever start on a card and it just seems to lead the way without any plan on your part, this is one of those.
I knew I wanted to use the poinsettia and maybe stamp it several times, so I stamped once on the card stock and once on another piece of paper to use as a mask. Then I stamped two more flowers and the leaves...it was then that I decided to cut away part of the card....deciding that I like this, I knew I needed more depth and dimension to the flowers so I stamped and hand cut some to mount with foam tape. Then it was just a matter of adding the pieces after coloring all of the flowers and adding the background Christmas script stamp. The shadows around the flowers and sponging are one of my favorite parts.

For the inside I stamped part of the poinsettia on the Labels 18 die adding a handmade banner with the sentiment.

Thanks for stopping by, I hope you will check out Linda' challenge for this week and her wonderful blog, She is a dear person and I know she would love to see your cards!
Stop by StampTV for all the details!

Ink: Spectrum Noir markers, Memento black and london fog

Release Day at Doodle Pantry!

I just love the first of every month as that is when we release the newest sets created by Laurie Wilson
at Doodle Pantry and you will want to be sure and check these out for October.
I have used elements from both the Old Pistol and Shoot 'Em Saloon mini digi paper pack to create my projects.

I made a card and gift bag for a friend's birthday coming up next spring....think I am ready or what????

He has a birthday in April, so I made a tag that slides in behind the main image using some of  the
new digital papers and a calendar from last month's set Calendar Pocket Tag Guest Book .
I printed the page with the month that I needed which I then tore, distressed and circled his birth date.
I printed and colored the pistol a second time so that I could place
it on foam dots and give it some dimension.

Here is the inside:

I love the rustic, distressed way this turned out and I am sure he will as well.

Pumpkin Pie Ants is a limited time free w/ purchase set, if you love Laurie's ants, you will want to pick this one up for sure!

The DPDC challenge goes live today at Noon, so be sure and stop by the blog , all we ask is for you to use a DP image on your entry and you will get this great set sent to you for free! Isn't it beautiful? It will not be in the store until after the 24th of October when the challenge ends, so if you would love to have it now....just enter our challenge!

Thanks for stopping by....wishing you all a wonderful week!
