Recipe Time at Sugar Creek Hollow!! Come Share with Us!

It is Saturday and we have a really fun challenge for you at Sugar Creek Hollow this week. We want to see a vintage, shabby chic or primitive card or other paper-crafted project that features a RECIPE CARD. The recipe card can be shown either on the front or inside your project and the recipe itself should be a family favorite that has been passed down over the years.

I have decided to create a family cookbook/scrapbook listing some of the recipes from my Mom and Grandmother and then some that are favorites from the family gatherings at my home for the past 30 years. My mother passed away in 1990 after a short bout with Leukemia and this is one of our favorites that she loved to fix. Mexican Cornbread. Here is her recipe:

Mexican Cornbread   Ailene Frazier

2 cups self-rising cornmeal mIx            1 cup buttermilk

1 small green pepper chopped            1 can cream style corn

(jalapeño if desired may be added)    2 eggs

1 small onion                                     8 oz shredded cheese

¼ cup oil

Mix together all ingredients, except shredded cheese. Put ½ of batter in

pan.  Sprinkle with shredded cheese and pour the other part of the batter over this. Bake at 425 degrees for 30 minutes or until golden brown.

I used a Sizzix flower die and bookplate and a Spellbinders curvy rectangle die to make my frame for the picture. The chipboard is some that I have had forever and don't recall the manufacturer.

For the front of my book I used Stampin' Up real red and kraft card stock. My apron is by The Stamping Boutique and the 40's apron lady by A Day for Dasies. More unknown chipboard helps decorate my front. Since I am not scrapbooking much, I thought that this would be a perfect family scrapbook for the future, when my niece takes over the cooking for family meals.

This is so delicious with a homemade chili or soup in the Fall and Winter. I think Marsha has a cheesy soup recipe that I may just have to fix to go with this!

Sketch 128 at SSW with Digi Stamp Boutique

It's Wednesday and that means it is time for our sketch challenge #28 at Sweet Sketch Wednesday !

For my card I wanted to use some dry embossing this week, so behind the image you will find an ornament folder and behind that the swiss dots. I colored him using Stampin' Up markers, adding a stardust pen on the ornaments and some Martha Stewart snow glitter.

CAS-ual Friday Tag!

It has been a while since I have played at CAS-ual Fridays but since I am making an effort this week to get back in to some outside challenges, I just couldn't resist this one:

I love tags and with these new dies from Papertrey ink, no problem making one for all those winter birthdays. I used Recollections kraft card stock cut to the measurement I wanted and then using my Stampin' Up tag punch I clipped the corners.  The tree was die cut and then stamped with old olive ink, the deer simply die cut from chocolate brown card stock. The snowflakes are from the same stamp set "In the Meadow"  stamped with Tim Holtz distress inks. I hand cut the banner edge for my sentiment. Don't you just love this set??? You may get tired of seeing it before I get tired of using it. Hope your week is going great, hope to be by to visit with all of you a little later today.

 

Sketch at Digi Doodle Shop Challenges

Another challenge card, as you can see I was in my craft room yesterday afternoon. A couple of weeks ago I told you about a new digital shop and challenge blog that I found surfing...and Digi Doodle Shop is having a sketch challenge for this week, so I thought I would give it a try.

I used one of the images that I bought "Winter Snow Bird". I loved the holly framing this, so I was thrilled when I found the holly paper in this pack by Memory Box "mistletoe". The sentiment is also from Digi Doodles, when making my purchase, I found several free sets of sentiments that are fabulous with their beautiful stamps. I cut this one with a SU word punch. Using Copics and Prismacolor pencils, I colored the stamp and added stickles and glitter glue with extra glitter snow to make it really sparkle.

I added this sentiment from an old Stampin' Up set....thought it was the perfect one with my scene.

Papercraft Star challenge card!

Yeah, I made a card for a challenge!! Can you believe it?? Seems as if I have been busy creating for my design teams and as much as I love to do that, sometimes it is just fun to play someone else's challenges. I found this one at PaperCraft Star where I have been seeing some gorgeous images by a company The House Across the Bay . They give a freebie away each week and that is the image I am using on my card. It came in dark blue, but I changed the color in Word. I will admit that I am getting a list together to purchase from their shop. They have digital sheets that are just calling my name, lol.
They are also the sponsor for this challenge which uses an inspiration photo which is, use if you choose and needs to include a number.

My sentiment is computer generated and the number 4 is from some unknown chipboard that I have had forever, I just colored over the polka dot green.

Doodle Pantry with the Snow Birdies

Good morning, just wanted to remind everyone about our challenge now going on over at Doodle Pantry where DPDC18 is in full swing, you just need to use a DP image to enter and receive this months' free set "Wishbone Ants". It is adorable. You have until the 24th of this month to enter.

For my card, I am using a set that was released last month "Snow Birdies". I used the outline images, but it also comes in precolored with digital papers. Using Stampin' Up markers and copics to color and adding dp's from Memory Box, I love how this one turned out. Never have been a big sparkle, glitter kind of girl...but I may be turned to the shiny side, lol!

My inside sentiment is also from this set, punching the snowflakes from the design paper gave me a positive and negative way to use them. Love the look over the burgundy paper.

I was so excited to create my card this week as I am playing with my new goodies from Papertrey Ink. I have stalked their blog and store for such a long time, and finally placed my first order. I couldn't resist this past month when Nicole released her new set and dies "In the Meadow". Many of you may already love and use their products, but let me just tell you that their dies are out of this world. I used the tree die, horse and sleigh, and the two different sizes of snow to create my card. I decided to let the design paper do the talking and because of that, my only stamping is done with one of the sentiments that I also purchased in the Think Big Favorites #9 set using Versamark and copper embossing powder. I can't wait to try something else using my new stamps.

Don't you just love that sentiment??? I used my Martha Stewart border punch to create some more trees along the bottom.

For my card, I used Lily Winter image #5 and colored her using copics. The paper is from the Memory Box collection "Yuletide" with Stampin' Up soft sky and black. I love this beautiful image and it makes me think of sharp,cool temperatures in the winter with white snow sparkling all around in the sunlight.

Blog Hop at Doodle Pantry and 12 Days of Christmas!!

Welcome!!! Today is the first day of our blog hop at Doodle Pantry to showcase our new set just released on the 1st of November "12 Days of Christmas". I created a set of tags, selfishly for myself to use on my gifts this year and in doing so made them with a rustic, distressed look.

I used the same design on each to make it a fairly quick project. I centered my image inside of the appropriate circle sentiment and was able to print 6 per page, these I cut out with my Spellbinders circle die. After coloring with Tim Holtz distress inks, they were layered  on large tags that I made by cutting card stock to the same size and using my SU tag punch on the corners and tags cut with the largest Spellbinder tag die. These were all distressed with those same inks. I added a to from sentiment on the back of each and a For you sentiment on the front punched with my 1" circle punch.

Mayonaise and Hot Cocoa.....

What do these two things have in common.....not much except a container!

But this is what it looked like before, I forgot to take a picture of it washed and clean....but since this is our regular brand, I took a one of our new jar.

If you did, we hope you were able to get some crafting in, even if the power was out.  Crafting by candlelight sounds so relaxing, doesn't it?

This week our challenge to you is to turn something from your garbage or recycling bin into a vintage, shabby chic or primitive card or other paper-crafted project. We want you to turn TRASH TO VINTAGE TREASURE. You can include items from your paper scraps but your project must start with something you are re-purposing. Please include a photo of that item in your post so we can say "You went from that to that - wow!"

He is a freebie that I got a good while back from Vintage Holiday Crafts. For my top, I layered two dies and a sentiment from Stampin' Up along with another free image, this one from Magic Moonlight that I placed under a clear pebble and trimmed around.

My fabric topper is some that I have had in my stash for years.

 I thought that these would be great neighbor gifts for Rick and I to give out this year. The mayo jars are plastic and therefore unbreakable and I think my neighbors would love these. Now to just get a few more made.

I would like to share the hot cocoa recipe with you:

1 lb. chocolate drink mix
1-1/4 c. powdered non-dairy creamer
25.6-oz. pkg. powdered milk
2 c. powdered sugar
In a large mixing bowl, combine all ingredients and store in an airtight container. Give with these instructions: To serve add 1/4 cup to 12 ounces hot water or milk. Makes about 29 cups mix.

I will add a tag with the instructions and a small bag of mini marshmallows when gifting.
