Sassy Christmas at Sugar Creek Hollow!

Happy Saturday my friends, whew what a busy week it has been! I hope that you have had a wonderful one and now are enjoying a fabulous weekend. Rick and I are off for the day to shoot sporting clays with one of our friends, so wish me luck!

I am so excited to share my card with you today..... Sugar Creek Hollow is being sponsored by one of my very favorite digital image companies Sassy Cheryl's . In addition to being a Virginia girl like myself (even if we are across the state from each other) she has some of the most adorable images. Be sure and stop for a visit and please sign up for her newsletter as that way you will keep up to date on her specials. I need to shop this weekend as she is selling the cutest Fall image Sassy Sally and her Autumn Leaves for only $2.00 and be sure and check out the Bargain Bins!

Sassy Cheryl

This week's winner of our challenge #22 Christmas in July will get a $5.00 gift certificate to Cheryl's store.

For my card I used Santa and His Tree and kept my card to a primitive feel.

My papers are created from some free digital images I got online and I then added punched stars threaded through with linen thread. I love this unique color combo and I can't tell you how thrilled I am to be adding to my stash of Christmas cards for this year. I might just be ready this time.....could it be?

The design team will also choose their Top Pick and that person will get a badge and be in the running for a monthly guest designer spot. So hop on over to Sugar Creek Hollow and show us your Christmas  creations.

Have a wonderful day!!!

All About Sports....

I can hardly believe it, I am getting to combine my two hobbies...many of you may or may not know that Rick and I love to shoot sporting clays and other competitive shotgun competition events.
Our challenge this Saturday at Sugar Creek Hollow is in honor of the upcoming Olympics in England and to do so we are asking everyone to create vintage/shabby chic cards using something vintage sports themed.

I staged some shotgun themed items (our new breakdown case for a side by side shotgun, spent hulls, vintage shotshell boxes, a leather shell bag and "Sweet William" which is our pet name for the Fred Williams side x side hammer gun) and took a picture for my focal image. Even though my picture is current, the shotgun is around 100 years old, so I think that qualifies for vintage.

As soon as I saw this week's challenge, I knew that I wanted to do something using a shooting theme. One of our dear friends is going to be in England at the Olympics in a couple of weeks to watch some of the shooting events, lucky guy!

For my background, I scanned a picture of vintage Wesley Richards items that was in one of our magazines.
The sentiment layer has a pin that I got years ago at a tournament and used to wear on my collar when shooting, I heat embossed with gold the image that I got after stamping the brass end of an empty shotgun hull in Versamark.
This will be such a great card for one of our shooting buddies.

The rest of the team has out done themselves this week in giving you loads of inspiration for this challenge, so I hope you will be sure and stop by and see them.
We can't wait to see what you come up with.
I am off to the stamp/scrap show with my good buddies Olga and Becky today, so hope we find lots of new goodies to play with and share with all of you.
Happy Saturday my friends!

Still time to play at Doodle Pantry

If you haven't been by the Doodle Pantry Blog this month, you have missed out on lots of new sets and fun things going on. We are sponsoring a couple of challenges at the moment and you will find out about those if you will stop by. We also have our regular monthly challenge which will not end until July 24th, so you still have time to get in. We just ask that you use one of DP's image (not just a DP sentiment) . If you click Here  you will be taken to DPDC25.

My card above using one of the new sets Tiny Triceratops  is one of my favorites. I printed off two of the digital papers and used a SU punch to make my bg. Love the random look of this. This is the colored version of Tiny! By the way if you love quick and easy, Laurie has come up with something new for all of us.

Two new pdf card file kits that give you everything you need to print out and create lots of cards quickly, be sure and check these out at the store, they are available in two of the new sets for this month, Mini Bethlehem and Quirky Snowmen.....just in time for you to get ready for the busy Christmas season.

I also created a couple of bookmarks, I know everyone uses electronic books these days, but I still love curling up with a cup of coffee and a great book and turning the pages, so for that you still need a bookmark!

These feature the sets: Sunflower and Hot Air Balloon Birdie

Bookmarks are a quick way to use up scraps and create something wonderful and useful.

Thanks for stopping in for a visit and Happy Day to you!

Vintage Sympathy at Sugar Creek Hollow.

Hi all, I want to show you what I played with this week. I found a free digital kit while surfing around and linking from Pinterest and you can find it by going here and be sure to sign up for the free newsletter while there.
The site is Digital Design Essentials.

I thought it was a perfect pair with my "Lily" image from Robyn's Fetish who is our sponsor this week at Sugar Creek Hollow .   You will want to enter as this week's winner will get 5 images from Robyn of their very own.

newproudsponsor

Our theme this week for Challenge #20 is to create a vintage/shabby chic Sympathy card. I know they may not be your favorite theme card, but so nice to have on hand when we do need them for someone.

I layered 3 of the papers manipulating them in Word. Love the circle frame around the rose paper. The stitching is another of the digital elements (one which I cannot do in real life) and I printed the flower 3 times, fussy cutting and layering. My beautiful lily image so generously given by Robyn was made using patterns in Gimp photo program which I am experimenting with. I love the way these patterns played off of the other papers. The frame and the sparkles on it are more of the free kit. I distressed and layered on gray and so saffron card stock. The frame is popped up with foam dots and I inserted a piece of the so saffron beside of it which I punched with a Martha Stewart border punch and added pearls.
I know that there are many of you out there that are so talented in using the digital elements (many on my team) but I had a blast trying something new and I am pleased with the result.

One of you will be chosen by our Design Team as this week's Card of the Week and in addition to your badge, you will be in the running for a Guest spot on our team. So get your vintage/shabby chic hat on and jump in with us this week at Sugar Creek Hollow.

I am entering this in the challenge at Bloggers Challenge which is Color Splash, black and white with a splash of one color, mine is yellow.

I am also putting in for the challenge "Use a Digi" at Poodle Parlours , which is my beautiful Lily image from Robyns.

Thanks for stopping by......

Warm Winter Wishes!

I know it's not even close to Christmas and this is my second post with Christmas cards this month, but just think how I will be ahead and you can be too!
I am showcasing another of Laurie's sets released this month at Doodle Pantry which is a color version of an earlier set Winter Wishes. You can find the new colored version by clicking here .

I created two cards, the first using the outline which I colored and this second one which uses one of the color schemes along with a sentiment and digital paper from the set. I manipulated the images in Word and after printing it out on white card stock, I layered it with a piece of hunter green card stock on a white card base. I used my stardust spica pen to add glitter to my snow.

On my first card, I used distress inks and copics to color the beautiful winter scene again adding sparkle from my stardust pen. I layered the circle frame of not quite navy over the image and layered both of these on a white card base. I added glitter to the Spellbinder snowflakes, but I am afraid you cannot really see that in the picture.

Be sure and check out the specials and our challenge now going on for Doodle Pantry, you still have time to join in!

Wishing you a wonderful day my friends......

Summer Days at SCH

Happy Saturday everyone!
I hope you are having a wonderful start to a great weekend. It will be hot here this weekend but we have hope for cooler temps starting mid week. I cannot wait.

Welcome to this week's challenge at Sugar Creek Hollow   where in addition to asking you to create a vintage/shabby chic design we want to see "Summer Days", now summer means many things to different people but to me it is flowers and butterflies. I have always loved sitting outside on a summer day and enjoying the sounds and sights that came my way. As a child, we would sit in the swing and on our back porch each evening and those are some of my fondest memories of my childhood.

I have used two free digital images to create my card.

The postcard is from Shoregirl Creations , you may remember that I created a card using a tree image from her last week. Be sure and take a look at the wonderful freebies she has and the beautiful things she creates, you will love her blog!

The 3 floral squares are from a set of 4 that I received as a freebie from Debbie Anne at Ephemera's Vintage Garden in her newsletter that I subscribe to. She sends it out each week with a freebie and a special buy from her store. Be sure and check her out as well.

I did some dry embossing on the card base, added jewels to the flowers on the postcard, used an EK Sucess border punch, added a flourish of rhinestones and a bit of cotton trim to embellish these great images.
For the inside I used a couple of SU sets to create a flower and stem which I colored with distress markers. The front sentiment is also from Stampin' Up.

My butterfly is actually a pin that I have fixed so that it can be removed and worn later by the recipient of my card.

Now, off to enjoy your weekend and check out what my team divas have for you at Sugar Creek Hollow.
We look forward to seeing your creations.
hugs........

I am entering my card into the following challenges:

It's All About the Vintage Anything Goes

  Tuesday Throwdown "Summertime"

Sunflowers....

Hello, I hope you have been by Doodle Pantry to check out this month's new release, this is from Laurie's new set Sunflower which is one of the sets on sale through today....be sure and check out the digi grab bag where you can find 25% off off! There is also a new set free with purchase.

I used the single sunflower image to create a background which I recolored in PSE and printed on the same so saffron paper from Stampin' Up as the card base to give it a very subtle look. I used my distress ink and SU markers to color the other sunflower image with leaves. The great piece of design paper and the tag sentiment is also part of this set, what a value....2 images, 4 sentiments and 2 papers for only $2.25 through today.

I am entering this into sketch challenge 42 at Freshly Made Sketches .

I was lucky enough to have my card chosen last week as a Perfect Princess. I really enjoy the clean lines of their sketches and the team always shares inspiring cards, so be sure and check them out if you haven't ever played there.

Thanks so much for stopping by and be sure to visit the Doodle Pantry Blog for this month's challenge.

A Day Late.....

Good Monday Morning!!!
I should have posted this at Noon yesterday, but we have been out of power due to the storms passing through our area. We are blessed to be back on so quickly as some in our town and county may be out for the rest of the week.
Thoughts and prayers to any going through troubles with Mother Nature at the moment.

I had the pleasure of showcasing Doodle Pantry's newly released set Mini Bethlehem which you can find here .  There are lots of specials this month and you will want to check them out at the home page at Doodle Pantry and at the Doodle Pantry Challenge Blog where we are doing things a bit differently for the summer. We know everyone is super busy this time of year, so you will be able to download this month's set directly from the blog. In addition, you have two ways to win! There will be two links, one for any Doodle Pantry image and the other using our free set "Tiny Triceratops" which will be free from July 1-15.

There will be a winner from each group of cards submitted.
In addition, Laurie is running a sale of 25% off on selected images, from patriotic to Christmas, so be sure and check it out. Also this month's free with purchase will help give you a head start on those Christmas cards.

We have something for everyone this month.....

My card uses the papers that comes with this set as well as the sentiment that I used for the inside.

I made a second card using another of the sentiments and fussy cutting around the image. The town of Bethlehem comes in outline as well as color ...which makes making a mass production of these for your Christmas cards super easy.

Thanks for stopping by, I hope to be able to see you soon, now that I am back online.
Happy Day!!!
